Hong
Hong is heavily involved the use of light in his paintings. He not only transposes the light he sees onto the canvas, but the light that shines on the work itself is an integral part of the spirit of the piece. He uses both his brush and his palette knife as tools in creating his works of art. The result is such a striking combination of texture and depth that the viewer is compelled equally by the physicality of the piece as the imagery.
He was born in Hong Kong, the third son of famous artists. He showed artistic promise as a young boy, and his paintings garnered various awards in youth art presentations. European and North American collectors were purchasing his pieces by the time he reached the age of eighteen. He went to study at the Royal Art Academy in London.
Hong currently lives in Vancouver, Canada and he is represented by many galleries throughout the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. His work is widely acclaimed and collected by corporations, private collectors, and major learning institutions.
